Spring Show 2018

Through the Year With Iris

 Our annual Spring Show was held on Saturday April 14 at the Spalding County Extension Office on Memorial Drive, Griffin GA.   This was an American Iris Society accredited show where growers may submit their irises for judging.    Show Chairman was Sherry Caldwell  and  Co-Chairman was Jeannie Hatfield.  We had 70 horticulture entries, and  17 exhibitors.   We had  40 visitors.  Some of the show results are:  

Horticulture Awards

Queen of Show: "Joyce Terry" - grown in UGA Garden beds planted and maintained by Flint River Iris Society.

Best Tall Bearded: "Oasis Omelette", Sam Caldwell TB

Best Median: "Congo Bongo", Sara Russell Section B, Group 1 - Border Bearded (BB)

Best Non-Bearded: "Bishops Cloth", Sally Henderson Section C, Group 3-Bulbous Dutch Iris

Best Historical: Indian Chief", Sam Caldwell TB

Seedling: James Merritt TB, plicata Purple Rosette and Club award
